Custom Asteroids for SW Saga 4 by wolf74145 Custom Asteroids for SW Saga 4 by wolf74145
Custom Asteroids I created for ship to ship battles in SW Saga RPG / miniatures.

I used chunks of high density blue foam 1.5 to 2 inch thickness. I carved or broke them apart to a shape I liked. Then I took small needle nose pliers and pulled chucks off of them to make a pocked look. Then you use black spray paint and spray the crap out of them. Normally I don't use spray paint on my terrain unless I coat it good with a brush on paint so you don't melt the foam. But in this case its spray the heck out them and melt away. The propellant causes the foam to melt and develop more little bubbles to give it a tiny pocked mark appearance on the majority of the little asteroid. I then used some grey spray paint to create the main color. I'm sure one could then use a dry-brush method to add even more detail. I just need to make one or two with a little hidden pirate base on the surface or a smuggler hide-out.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked them. I looked at a few of your pictures. I guess you are a Fallout player too like me? Do you use Hirst Arts molds too?

That is actually how I found you. Saw your post over there, and came here. I have not picked up my Hirst molds yet, waiting for my tax refund so I can order them. Also made a deal with myself that I would finish the projects I started before getting a new one. =P

I got into the hobby with the purchase of my 1st 2 Hirst Arts molds to make fieldstone dungeons back in June of 2006. I own 50 plus molds now. I have acquired most of them at tax refund time too. The more molds you buy the better deal you get. I did buy 10 molds in one purchase once and the discount given was like getting a mold and a half free. If you like to ask me questions on my hobbies or my HA molds feel free to Email me Wolf74145@yahoo.com or use that Email to add me on Facebook if you like.

Will do. My first buy is planned for like 15 molds. I need like 11 - 12 for my first project, so I figured I might as well buy the next few to get to 15, like you said it is like getting free molds and free shipping.

PS: Tagged you on facebook.

First thing I thought of here was Empire at War :)

I like the way you've done... erm, well everything here. Did you make those ships and stands yourself or are they customised from existing models ?

Thank you Dan.
The ships are the original ones released by Wizards of the Coast that made the Star Wars Miniatures line. Only custom things here were the map made by gmsarligames.com and the asteroids made by me.
